Croutons are small pieces of bread, cubed and seasoned, then rebaked in the oven. They make great companions to soup, and salads.
Cube some stale bread, oil a baking tray and mix the bread with some chopped garlic and herbs – a little salt and pepper wouldn’t go amiss too. Drizzle some olive oil on top and bake for about 20 – 30 minutes in a medium oven. If you are in a hurry you can use the grill, but be careful, croutons burn easily. Bake until golden brown.
