I had lunch today with Kiki at Bistro Laz, on the Dartmouth Park corner of Hampstead Heath. The building itself, made of brick and sporting old fashioned painted adverts on a outside wall, hint that it was once a large, old, tea room. Now the Bistro serves English breakfasts in the mornings and Turkish European fare at lunch and in the evenings.
Today I had a fantastically tender, grilled octopus, with thyme and butter vinegar sauce, with rice and salad. The octopus was hard to fault and was more tender than some restaurants I’ve had it in, in Spain. The sauce was sharp and buttery and the rice came in a perfect circular mound. I would definitely order it again.
