We met Maria at the Vermut Bar for a glass or two of vermouth and once fortified we headed for a restaurant in Born. To our disappointment we’d timed things too late and it was just closing – how did that happen? Bars and restaurants never seem to close here… Luckily, just round the corner, was Nou Celler, a traditional Catalan restaurant, still open and serving (my picture is of the back entrance – they had dustbins outside the front door).
As a the main course we had their excellent sepia con albondigas – pork meatballs, cooked with pieces of cuttlefish. My picture doesn’t do justice to the dish, but it’s brown food in a warmly lit restaurant. Do take my work for it – this is delicious!
We washed the food down with vino rosado.
